Old Jeans, New BoHo Skirt ...

An old pair of jeans & an old summer dress makes for a new
BoHo Skirt!
(We made these in the 70's and they are BACK with Style...)
The finished skirt waiting for a quick wash to fray the edges of the denim.
Take one pair of old jeans...
 And one old summer/pool dress...
Grab you scissors and start cutting...
I trimmed off the top of the pants just below the bottom of the pockets.
Then I trimmed off the top of the dress, leaving the bottom half in tact to use for my skirt.
I ran a large double stitch around the top of the cut skirt material...
leave one end unknotted...This is done to gather the material into a slightly gathered skirt.
Gather the threads and size the skirt circle to fit the cut jeans...
After the gathering is done, pin skirt bottom to the jean top. You will be sewing on the top (outside) portion of the cut jeans.
Invert the front pockets, so you don't accidentally sew them shut.
At the sewing machine, sew across the top outside. Sew two rows evenly.
Turn the shirt wrong side out and trim any excess material...giving the skirt a nice finished look on the inside.
After the trimming, wash the skirt so the raw edges of the jean material can fray. Adding to the BoHo look.
All done! *Make sure if you have a pattern, to match any seams and front to back.
**The hem may need to be adjusted to each persons height.
A simple and easy new skirt for summer.

*Thank you for being patient the last few days...
the same post appeared a several days in a row.
Unfortunately, a friend suffered the Loss of her Mother on Mother's Day weekend. And, of course we wanted to be there for her...
As always, Family & Friends in need will (& should) always come first!
Our hearts & prayers go out to her & her family...
XOXO
