The Thanksgiving Table

I woke early this morning...Lots to do today, as you all know.... Final touches on the Thanksgiving table, and it is ready... It's 5am and I'm off and running....the TV is waiting for the Thanksgiving parade to start, fire is on, coffee in hand and I am ready to start cooking....Maybe the "others" will sleep long enough for me to get a few dishes prepared....AND then there's breakfast to fix.... At least I know I'm not alone this Thanksgiving morn! Have a Happy Turkey Day! Blessings to all....

It's 5am....and I'm putting on the final touches for thanksgiving dinner....

This table went together quite fast and I love the look!
Each plate has a small salad plate in various colors of fall leaves...
Our daughter is going to love my owl napkin holders. I better count them before she leaves....  :)))

The box was Dad D's wooden tool box he used ...always! I'm grateful to have a wonderful memory of Dad with us on this day...We lost him almost 22 years ago, miss him like yesterday!
                                                            Love my country kitchen!
Oh... the fire is nice this morning! Coffee & Biscotti sounds good!
Each chair has it's own adornment!
This  is the table I stained and distressed a few years ago....It was a blond wood with a white french country stain and an inlaid wood pattern on top....I love dark woods....Soooo furniture redo!
Love the fireplace in the country kitchen... 2nd cup of coffee? Why...YES, I think so!

                                                    The kitchen window seat area....
 I love the fall...
I have an Italian Country kitchen theme...
 My  kitchen door wreath
I love my Thanksgiving Elf... It's the Norwegian in me! :)
Our wild turkey's have a Thanksgiving message for you....
                                                                       EAT BEEF!

Turkey Quills...aka Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Who doesn't love the sweet & salty of chocolate covered pretzels? At Halloween I didn't get enough made for all the kids in the family...the ghost pretzels disappeared quick! So I needed to make MORE...for the great nieces and nephews...Who ....didn't forget Aunt NeeCee promised MORE!
Gotta love those babies! So this is what I came up with for Thanksgiving! And everyone was happy in Ranch-land! :)))

Turkey Quills....We see a few of these around the ranch from the wild turkeys...Sometimes up to 300 at a time....Love to watch their turkey dance.....

                                                                  Yummy Good!
Fun for the kids! Of all ages!!!

Good Morning turkey lurkey......these are in my front yard at the River ranch
My morning Coffee has awesome views! The Sacramento River is behind the turkey's....

Best Ever Thanksgiving & Duck Recipes..

This is a re-post of my Turkey & Duck recipes...The Duck was my Dad's favorite....it turned out wonderful....I miss him (he passed 3 years ago this coming Christmas) and I am so happy I could please his palate for Duck!....Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

A Moist Traditional Turkey...&
There's a Duck in the OVEN
This turkey is very moist.
My cooking secret makes all the meat moist and tender.
This turkey was cooked in our smoker. We love the flavor the smoker adds to the taste. I love having my oven is free for all of side dishes.
Rinse and prepare turkey. Oil the skin with garlic infused olive oil. Coat/sprinkle the outside (of the turkey) with Garlic pepper, Parmesan herbs, Worcestershire pepper and White pepper.
Place inside the empty cavity a FROZEN CUBE OF BUTTER!
Yep, that's my secret!  It melts slowly and helps tenderize the meat, leaving a slight buttery taste.
*IF YOU WANT TO COLLECT THE JUICES FOR GRAVY, PLACE THE TURKEY IN A FOIL ROASTER.
*I don't care for breast meat, BUT I love to eat this white meat!
Next, place a quarter of an peeled onion in the cavity with the butter.
 Add 3 cloves of garlic.
Fold and close the turkey opening. We used small wooden skewers.
Cook on medium or about 300 degrees for 3/12 to 4 hours. Temperature inside the meat should reach 160-165 degrees.  Let rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Tastefully good, moist turkey and a happy tummy...
WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?
"See the duck recipe below"
NeeCee Signature
Just Ducky...
Rinse and ready the duck. Do NOT oil. Duck has a lot of natural fat.
Baste the outside with a sauce of your choice. I used an apricot pepper sauce.
Sprinkle with garlic pepper, inside and out. s
Stuff the duck with 1/8 of an onion and a couple of garlic cloves.
Secure the duck with skewers as shown.
We cooked the duck in the smoker at 350 degrees for 2 1/2-3 hours. reaching 160 degrees for cooked meat temperature. Let rest for about 15-20 minutes before carving.
