Vintage Style Ranch Furniture Redo...

These were an amazing find...and I snatched them up the minute I saw them. I have always loved the old Ranch Style Furniture from the late forty's & fifty's! When I saw them clear across the store...I knew they were mine! The set was $2oo for the Large, hand carved, heavy duty couch & chair, a grat deal! The pads are the old nagahide in a gold color....These will have to be replaced but for now..I was so pleased with the restaining & distressing....I had to share now! Eventually, I will have new pads made and leather instead of nogahide....Amazingly they are still in pretty good shape and can wait till my budget is ready! Take a look at these beauties!!!!

A Vintage Turquoise Gem...

A vintage cabinet, refinished and repurposed...A true Turquoise Gem...
This retro cabinet once was a home to record albums... In years past,  this item would sit near the HiFi....
HiFi??? A High Fidelity Stereo Record Player!
K-8 & I joined together to re do this cabinet.
She needed some furniture for her Vintage Cowgirl Style Living room.
We chose Turquoise with an antiqued finish for the color...
 I found this solid cabinet at a thrift store for $20 bucks!
 The outside was very worn, but the inside was very clean and nice.....NO need to change that!
 A quick coat of paint, let dry and we were ready for staining....
 I used a dark walnut stain over the paint...
 We also distressed the cabinet in several places...then we applied a clear coat of spray to seal.
 We left the hardware alone, just a quick wash and dry! Keeping the Old Vintaged look!!!
Loved how it turned out! K-8 uses it at her front door...a great place for her to take off and store her shoes!

Vintage Fiesta Chair Redo...

A friend of mine had this chair in her store...When she heard that K-8 wanted to decorate her FIRST College Home in Vintage Cowgirl....
WELL,
Short story shorter....It ended up in my car and headed south!
"Yep! It WAS decided that quick!!!"
K-8 was THRILLED! So....Here is what we did...
 My friend had recovered the seat cushions herself....
The box springs needed to be recovered and we wanted to paint & antique the chair.
I had some beige & cream pillow ticking material in the sewing room!
 Perfect colors for the box springs of the chair!
With the box springs recovered...we started painting!
We used some paint I had on hand. It was Ruby Red from Benjamin Moore. We did only one coat of paint and let it dry, then we used a walnut stain over the top of the paint to antique it!
We let it dry over night, then applied a couple of layers of clear satin spray.
 A close-up of the vintage fabric on the previously recovered cushions.
We found the turquoise throw at TJ Maxx, loved it & the price!
When "She" was all done...we added a pillow to match the box spring!
K-8 LOVED the end RESULTS!

She Has Her Vanity & Style...

She has her Vanity restored to her former beauty...
I found this poor man's version of a vanity at a local thrift store. She was in pretty poor shape. Her foundation was very good. But she had many deep stains. She had to be painted. She wasn't solid wood, she has veneers, but they were in good shape and not coming unglued. There were a few places that had to have wood putty, so again, painting was the answer!
Besides, someone had added some black stencils that truly distracted herself from her former beauty!

I wanted to match an earthy pink color that graced some flower prints in my powder room. I found the perfect match...Martha Stewart Brand at Home Depot, the color was "Terra Rosa". The vanity had been well used. I planned on distressing and antiquing the finished vanity to disguise all of the stains and marks.
Above is the project from start to finish....

These are the before and after photos...
 If you look into the mirror you will see one of the floral paintings with the earthy pink color...this is what I wanted to match...color wise...
The Chair was another thrift store find....She was in perfect condition. She just need a good coat of Bees Wax to bring her luster back! I choose to do a Tuxedo Look on the Vanity... using a paint and natural finish....Giving me just the look I wanted....And blending perfectly with the Chair and the Mirror!
I placed her in my Master Bath Powder Room...There is a large window that allows TOO much LIGHT and HEAT into the room. The opening was 54" and the vanity was 52"!
She was a perfect fit in an area of wasted space! I may add a sheer set of curtains to disguise the window and filter the remaining light from the window.
This Vanity was

Sweet Baby Items Re-Newed...

A very Sweet friend of mine is anxiously awaiting the birth of her Grandchild...She is very crafty gal....Loves to paint and redo anything that catches her eye...I have posted some of her creations in the past.
But today I want to share her precious baby redo's from items of the past... Thank you Tammy for Sharing....
Prepped and ready to paint
 This bassinet is from a very dear friend of Tammy's.
It was purchased sometime in the late 1950's for her friends husband at his birth. These two families are very close and Tammy was thrilled to receive this as a gift for her new Grandchild.
 Before & After Photo's
Tammy made a new bumper pad and the mattress pad for the bassinet using quilted fabric. She is contemplating placing a ribbon around the center of the bassinet basket.
This turned out so darling! An awesome redo done with LOVE Tammy!
She also found this Moses basket at a neighbor's yard sale for $5.00! She cleverly created a bumper pad & mattress cover for this lovely basket!
~~~
I'd say she must be getting pretty excited to use her beautiful creations for her soon-to-be Grand Baby!
UPDATE:
YEAH....We have another last-minute-before-the-post-picture...
Tammy added a Yellow Ribbon!
"Adorable"
(Tammy's other handy work is below...)
Check out Tammy's School Desk Planter that I posted & boasted about last year...HERE
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...
 I took Mom out to lunch today...
Then we went thrift shopping! We hit the Mother Load of Gold finds!!!
This Mirror was just one of the treasures!
 This antique mirror had been painted! With heavy enamel white paint...
I wanted to restore the antique look! BUT... it was TOO heavy with paint to sand & distress!
 SO...I used some stain to quickly add character!
 It only took a few moments to transform and restore it to its previous antiqued beauty!
 I used a stain pen, in a Golden Oak color!
Just color it on and wipe it off!
AND let dry...
It's THAT simple!
 The back of my $20 dollar mirror! It is in really good shape!
 Dried and ready to hang...
 To protect my walls, I place felt pads on the back . It slightly lifts it away from the wall and stops scratches from happening.
Easy Peasy, peel & stick!
 LOVE it!!!
 This is how it looks outside the mirror! This is a tall chest of drawers. I love the height this combo creates! This corner was so plain!
I don't have a lot of free wall space...
so we cornered the dresser!
Like most people we bought our furniture while living in another house... Sooo, we place furniture items where we CAN!
ARG!!! :S
 (Yes..I said; CAN! Where WE are ABLE TOO!)
Love my Bedroom set...we have had it for 20 years and its beauty lives on....
*When I finish my Master Bedroom make over...
I WILL SHARE!
 Haha, those of you that know the TV commercial I'm referring too...
