It's a wrap....

It's a wrap.... This has been a tough year for ME & My RA! Rheumatoid Arthritis can affect everything...physically & socially...Most of you know I have 2 RA's! So.... delayed posting has been more than not this year!...ANY-HOO..... I just finished my Christmas wrapping for our business & a few others...I went simple! Later today I will post my Christmas Decorations....But,  I will leave you a sneak peek of tonight's post...

Simplicity ...I'm all about that! 

 Easy peasy...wrapping this year...It's the gift that counts! :)))

 I had 30 gifts to wrap and have ready by Monday Morning! Burlap ribbon, inexpensive Christmas ornaments from Wal Mart and,  with a little string, a whole bunch & a personalized Christmas Postcard...It was a wrap!

Simple & Ready to give.

 I had post cards made with my fave photo of the season and used as tags on my gifts.

 Halfway done! Whew.....

 I used a food clip to hold the burlap ribbon until I tied the string....

 Loved these big tin heart ornaments!

Mother's Day Gift....

This is a beautiful and simple Mothers Day gift that was very much appreciated. Mama D recently moved into a little cottage, at baby sister's house near the River Ranch! Mom has been busy planting flowers and making things pretty! I thought this simplegift idea would be perfect by her back door!

 Simple and Quick Garden Idea: One large pot , 2 bags of sand, one tall post (treated for water rot & painted), two hooks and two hanging plants! And a few rocks on top to cover the sand! Easy Peasy... & Beautiful!!!!

Love how it turned out! You could easily add an address number too!

 I made the post look old with paint and stain!

 Lover her back door entrance......

 She loves it too!

 Simple to put together in minutes!

 LOVE IT!

Knots Of Love Necklace....

My latest Necklace..." Knots of Love" is crocheted with brown cotton #20 thread with bronze & turquisoe glass beads, silver beads and assorted turqouise pieces! A gift for my daughter....She Loves it!

 Recipe for Knots of Love...

Supplies:

• 1 small size G crochet hook
• Brown crochet thread #20 weight
• Beading Needle
• Approximately 200- assorted beads: I used Bronze & Turquoise glass beads, Assorted silver beads & assorted turquoise chunks.

Directions:

1. For the first strand, load 90 assorted beads onto the thread with your beading needle. Choose you pattern as you wish....
2. Leave a 6-8 inch lead, then chain....Crochet 6 to eight single crochets creating a chain
3. Next, start by crocheting a bead into the next single crochet, then do 3 single crochets, repeat until all beads are worked into the chain.
4. Finish,  by doing 6 single crochets, knotting off the end. Leaving 6-8 inches of string on the end.
5. Set aside for assembly later
6. The Second strand will use 80 beads, it is worked the same as the first strand...set aside when done for assembly later
7. The third strand is all turquoise chunks, choose the amount you wish...I used 7 chunks
8. I doubled the thread measuring 35 inches in length (70 doubled)....then I added turquoise chunks every so often with tying a double knot on either side of the turquoise chunk to hold in place. Repeat until the strand is finished. Make sure to leave some string on each end to assemble with.

Assembly:

If you have a dress form or a necklace form....This may help when you assemble the necklace...This will hold the necklace in position while you work.

• With the first stand, tie the ends together, then double the strand and tie together again. Set aside
• Do the same with the second strand. Set aside
• Now, tie the two strands together, forming a 4 strand layered necklace
• Next, tie the single strand together and then position and tie the third strand on to the four strand piece
• You now have a 5 strand necklace!
• With the strings you used to connect the strands..You may finish off by knotting &  cutting or add a few beads to the back that hang slightly for a completely finished look

Sweet Baby Doll Cradle with the Bedding

A sweet baby doll cradle caught my eye at a local thrift store. Solid, handmade & only $5.00! I bought her about a year ago. I waited till the right Baby Girl came along to play with her! Soon after, our niece announced she was having a girl! Perfect! I knew exactly how I wanted to finish this adorable project!

Adorable! I love how it all turned out!

 The two youngest Granddaughters came over for a slept over recently! We worked together for a couple of days completing the project while having fun! They loved helping. We sanded the cradle, added wood trim embellishments (found them at Home Depot). Then the girls painted the cradle & I stained & distressed it!

We made a mattress, pillow, sheet set and a comforter to fit the cradle. I measured the bottom of the cradle bed and used it as a guide for the bedding. Jess is decorating the baby's room in Pink & Brown Cowgirls! Adorable! Perfect for me, I had all of the fabric on hand! Imagine that! :)

 Oh My too Cute! Can't wait till Baby Girl is big enough to play with her Baby Doll Cradle.

I wanted to leave my mark and my love on the cradle....SOooo, I left baby girl a message from her Great Auntie & Uncle...This cradle is well built...I hope her daughter gets to play with it someday!
The girls & I had fun working together on the cradle. And, they loved seeing Jess LOVE the cradle too!

College Graduation Gift Idea...

I started gifting the "College Laundry Basket" years ago when our own children & their friends were headed off college.... It has always been a welcomes gift! Take a look......

 This gift has several items inside (see the last photo) ...Hangers, household & laundry cleaning products, a few towels, some cooking utensils, pot holders & more....Just a Hodge Podge of miscellaneous items needed for a college apartment or house! The kids love going through all of the items and are often surprised at the items inside...Things they haven't thought of or needed....I've even been known to throw in some popcorn and snacks. Who doesn't need a break from household chores???

A Simple Housewarming Gift...

We were invited to a Housewarming. We weren't able to attend but I still wanted to send a gift! I had seen a great gift idea on Pinterest.  This is such a simple & quick gift idea! So perfect because you can include so many small items you may never think of buying... Until YOU need it!

You will need a container such as a large, jar, can or basket. Then fill it with miscellaneous household items. Such as: Safety pins, Scissors, Tape, tools, kitchen & sewing items, cleaning products, gift cards, scrubbers and more...& a bow or two! Wal Mart was the perfect place for me to find these items...

The gift was a big hit! Our friend loved everything inside the jar! So... perfect for the new homeowners!

Little Boy Blue Party...

Little Boy Blue...A Baby Shower

A very good friend asked me to help with a baby shower for her FIRST grandchild! She was holding a small family baby shower on a Tuesday afternoon.

 I offered to do the Centerpiece, which would also be my gift! 

A Baby Shower Cake...made from Diapers, blankets, towels, toys etc.

It turned out so CUTE!

Two weeks old! Precious!!!

 So Cute...and fun to put together! We set a white bowl upside down, placed a platter on top, then a wicker style charger...AND then the CAKE!

We used burlap, twine and wicker to embellish the Blue Shower items. Everything came together so quickly....It took only minutes to set up for the shower.

 Items for the cake...I went to Walmart & Michael's for everything!

 Two layers of the cake are done....

 I rolled the diapers inside a bath towel and rolled them into a cake layer. I tied it together with twine to hold it together.

 This Gift Idea is so simple to do...Just have fun with it! I used socks, pacifiers, wash clothes, onesies, baby trinkets from Micheals, towels, diapers.....I also used Quilting straight pins to pin several items on the cake! They are longer than normal sewing pins. You may also use corsage pins. A little ribbon and a little imagination.....



Everyone LOVED it ...
especially... Mommy & the Grandma's!



I put a simple gift tag on the rubber ducky and my gift was ready to take center stage!


ADORABLE!!!

 I found these cute little boxes at Michaels 

We sat small topiaries in the box and used a brown tissue paper to stuff around the trees. Placed it on a wicker charger and TA-DA...
 called it done!

 These boxes anchored each side of the Diaper Cake.

 Gift Table....

 My Girlfriend chose finger foods & light desserts to serve her guests.

Cheese, Fruits & Veggies, Crackers, Rounds of Baguettes, a Chicken Pesto Dip and a Smoked Salmon Spread...YUMMY!

 For Dessert...

Strawberries & Cream Cheese drizzled with Chocolate

 (Her lovely daughter's creation) and Angel Food & Pineapple Cake!

DOUBLE YUMMY!!
