Secret Sauce-y Spaghetti & Garlic Cheese Bread
(See the post; Garlic Artichoke Bacon Bread/"GAB Bread" from Jan. 6th, 2012)
A great meal any day of the week! COMFORT FOOD, Yum!
There are so many different recipes for spaghetti. This one practically makes itself. It comes together quick. I like to make it the day before so everything blends together. Sometimes I simmer it in the crock pot all day.
Ingredients:
1 package of spaghetti, uncooked
1 package of lean hamburger, about 1-1 1/2 pounds
1 package of ground sausage, 1/2 pound
1 large can of diced tomatoes
1 family size spaghetti sauce or to large jars (I used the 4-cheese style)
1 can of tomato paste
1 package of spaghetti seasoning
4 green onions, sliced
1 package of mushrooms
1 can of chicken broth
4-6 cups of water
1 package or 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter
Olive Oil; I used garlic flavored olive oil
Prepare the stock pan for the uncooked spaghetti.
Add water, and 1/8 cup of olive oil. Turn heat on high.
Add the chicken broth. Cook the liquid until it starts to boil.
Add the meat to the frying pan. I cook the sausage and hamburger together.
Cook and crumble till done on medium. Season with Garlic pepper to taste.
Break the spaghetti into thirds, add pasta to the hot liquid. Cook for 20 minutes. When cooked, drain liquids then add to the sauce.
In a large pot make the spaghetti sauce. Mix together the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, 1 package of spaghetti sauce mix and 1 extra large, prepared tomato sauce. Mix well and simmer.
When meat is cooked, remover from pan and add to the sauce.
Saute' the mushrooms in butter, 2 tablespoons. Add garlic pepper to taste, cook until caramelized. Add to the sauce when done.
Slice the green onions and stir into the sauce.
Stir sauce well and continue to cook on simmer.
Next, stir in 2 cups of shredded cheese, mix well. This is the "secret" to the My Secret Sauce-y Spaghetti. This makes the sauce...(wait for it)...YUMMY!!!
Stir in the drained pasta, mix well.
Simmer on the stove top on low or put into a crock pot. Slow cooking the spaghetti lets the spices blend and season. Or make it the night before and reheat for dinner. Toss some Parmesan on top when serving.
Serve with a chopped salad and my GAB Bread or some easy Cheesy Garlic Bread made in the same way!
Enjoy Dinner with Style...
