Author: PineCreekStyle
Ingredients:
- 1 large apple
- Lime juice & water for soaking the apples, see directions
- 3 tablespoons of Strawberry jam (I used a sugar free jam)
- 1 tablespoon of water
- Cinnamon & Sugar Mixture for sprinkling
- 1 Puff Pastry sheet
- Garnish with powdered sugar
Directions:
- Cut the apple, in half, core & then slice the halves into thin pieces. (I used a fuji apple) You may use any apple, your choice.
- Place the Apples in a bowl, cover with water & squeeze some lime or lemon juice into the water. Microwave for 3 minutes to soften apples. Drain the apples, and start assembly of roses.
- Lay out the puff pastry and cut into 4 or 5 equal pieces , see photo below
- In a small bowl, place the strawberry jam inside and mix in 1 tablespoon of water
- Spread the thinned jam on each strip of puff pastry
- Next, layer the softened apples across the edge of (one side) the puff pastry
- Sprinkle with the Cinnamon Sugar mixture across the top
- Fold the other half of the puff pastry over the top of the apples (see photos)
- Then roll the pastry into a roll, with the apples on the top half (see photo)
- Place the pastry rose in a prepared muffin pan, repeat process until all roses are made
- Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes, remove, cool slightly and remove the baked roses to parchment paper or place on serving plates & serve
Notes: Serve with a scoop of ice cream or serve as a hand pie.
