A Fall Treat~Candied Apples....

Caramel & Chocolate Apples with Style...
A fall treat for everyone...
Candy Apple's for any Holiday.
So many ways to decorate this fun treat! Pictures and recipe below...
Carmel & Chocolate Candied Apples
4 Apples, Red or Green & 4 wooden skewers
Wash and dry, take off stems. Replace stems with wooden skewers.
Set aside.
1 bag, (14 ounces), unwrapped caramel candy squares.

2 tablespoons water, (*sometimes I use coffee)

10 ounces of chocolate chips, (* milk or dark chocolate)
**White chocolate can be used also for covering or drizzle

2 tablespoons of shortening

2 cups of nuts (can use candy sprinkles)

1. Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup. Spray with cooking spray.

2. Have prepared apples ready to dip

3. Place unwrapped caramels and water into a bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir and repeat as needed until caramel is completely melted,  smooth and liquid.

4. Hold the apple by the skewer and dip into the caramel, completely covering the apple. Repeat with the remaining three apples.

5. Set apples in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or so.

6. Next, combine the chocolate chips and shortening and melt in the microwave, stirring every 45 seconds, until melted.

7. Dip the caramel apples into the chocolate, completely cover. Spooning the chocolate over the top, to cover.

8. Dip the chocolate apple into the nuts or candy immediately, (only 1/2 way up the apple). Repeat with the remaining three.

9. Chill the candied apples in the refrigerator until set, about 45 minutes.
Store in the refrigerator when not being served.

Stylish Notes:
****You may dip ( referring to: the caramel & chocolate) the apples only part way, (half), making eight candied apples instead of four.
***I sometimes double this recipe, BUT, you must work faster if you have no helpers. Do NOT triple...too much work and you do not want to over cook the candies by reheating too often.
**To make apple bites, (a small version, bite-size servings), core and cut the apple into large chunks and dip according to the recipe directions.
*Lots of varieties can be made, use your imagination! Choose your favorite candies, nuts, coconut, extra chocolate for drizzles, white or colored to suit the needs of your wants and holidays....
