Our New Look is Coming Soon...

Our New Look is about to revealed....

Recently, We engaged a Web Designer to help us refresh our Blog. Below is the design Brooke at Uplifted Design presented to us.  Hubby & I approved the look right away! We loved that she listened to our wants & needs. We really wanted to appeal to both Men & Women. We were pretty happy with the new design and hope you are too! We would love to hear your comments....
Awesome news: Recipes will now have a print option...
Read more below...

Along with the New Design are the new Labels...Each Label has a description about that section and what you will find there.  The "About Us" section has already been refurbished and you will learn more "About Us" than maybe you want to know! Ha ha! And... How Hubby got his moniker... "Ornery"! His preferred nickname...

"Home" of course will take you to the current Home Page.

"The Recipes" will explain our style of cooking and why... As you know we do a lot of Semi-Homemade for the convenience of a busy life style. there are a few recipes that will be more detailed. And of course, we will share our Branding, Ranch & Celebrations too!

"Cooking & Household Charts" will be the place to go for Measurement Charts, Cooking Terms, Baking times, Kitchen List of Essentials & such....

"The Opinionated Palate" is a positive side of our Opinions...Whatever it might be....It's also a place to post any Foodie Faux Pas! And YES, They DO happen! You never know WHAT we may post here!

"The Table & Such" will cover anything & everything between TableScapes and Parties of any kind!

"The Ranch Life" is just that, Life on the Ranch. Lots of photos, a few posts & recipes about  Ranch Life in general.

And of course the "Terms/Disclosure & Contact" Labels are still the same.

The Face Book Page will basically stay the same...so you will want to check there often. You will find, food, crafts, furniture redo, opinions & remarks from me...NeeCee! You never know when I will pop in over there to add something NEW! And, yes the posts from the Blog will post there also....

Keep in mind we will be busy converting all of our posts in order to work with the new program. It will take some time, unfortunately there is no easy way to make the switch over. So I ask for your patience. If you need a recipe and you can't find it, please message or email me and I will send it to you. Thank you in advance for understanding.

PLEASE remember... Show your STYLE and TELL all your friends about Pine Creek Style....and don't forget to SHARE my recipes & posts....I would LOVE to BOOST my Readership of Friends!

Our Special Ornament & Santa...

Every year we make a gift or ornament with the grandkids. They give these as gifts to their parents and other family members. One year we made an ornament with a nail (The "Christ Nail") along with a beautiful story. If you look at the tree, it is hidden near the trunk of the tree. It is the first ornament to be hung.
See a close-up picture and the story below.
The tree before it was decorated
Reason for the Season; The "Christ Nail" Ornament

Always Remember the Reason HE Came...
This is the Christ Nail, it is to be hung on a sturdy branch, a branch near the center of the tree trunk. A branch that will hold such a spike without being noticed by well wishers dropping by to admire one's tinseled tree!
The nail is known only to the home that hangs it!
Understood only by the heart that knows its significance.
In the spirit if Christmas, accept this gift for your Tree.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Written in "2001"
Santa has taken his place next to the tree!
I LOVE my Santa! We bought him many years ago when my oldest grand daughter was very small.
He is over five feet tall and quite heavy.
I LOVE his face! Too cute!
Funny Story:
When we first moved into this home, 6 years ago, the younger grandchildren were showing their Great-Grandfather our new home!
(My Dad has always had a great sense of humor.)
They were showing him the guest bathroom. My Dad reached for a closet door inside the powder room and said, "WHAT'S IN HERE?" He swung the door wide open, teasing the kids!  Unbeknownst to DAD (and the KIDS),...
"SANTA" looming was BEHIND the DOOR!
Poor Dad, he had no idea what had just happened! The kids SCREAMED and RAN away! THEN he realized a "LIFE-SIZE SANTA" had been behind the CLOSED DOOR! After the adults broke out in a hearty laughter, we gathered the kids. Convincing THEM that it was Nana's "PRETEND Santa" that was hiding in the closet.

Crash, Boom, Bang!...

This has been a Crash, Boom, BANG-up the week or so.
First we had an Earthquake (May23rd) centered near here.....
5.7, 6.2, 7.2...
was the final measurement I heard....My cousins were here from Alaska...We had been to Dinner! We missed feeling the shake, but my brother had called to ask...We had been driving so WE never felt a thing!
BUT...When we got home we noticed the pictures were crooked on the walls and one had fallen over!
THEN...
Our fridge is NOT working...and parts are being repaired! So when I went into the pantry a couple of days later...
"It rained Pots & Pans on my HEAD!"
They must have jiggled around in the quakey-shakey!
YEAH for ME! That was fun...NOT!
Sooo...Friday,
We went to dinner in town! (YES, again...Remember the fridge is out of commission!!!) We were meeting some out of town weekend guests.
We were just starting to eat dinner...
 WHEN,da-da-da....
The Cell Phone rang!
Number #1 Son was on the Phone...
"Everything is FINE, K-8's NOT hurt"
...BUT there's been an
ACCIDENT!
It LOOKS much worse close up!
She had been sitting at a stop sign waiting her turn...
WHEN IT HAPPENED!
The most important thing was...She was FINE! The Car is replaceable...SHE is NOT!
Just sitting & waiting at a stop sign for HER turn...YIKES!
So, Why did I write this POST today?
In case of an Accident, there's a few tips that could help get you through the whole mess.

1. First and most important: check yourself and others for injuries!
Call for help if needed!
2. As soon as you are able get the License plate of any other vehicles. Write it down, use your cell phone camera or say the vehicle license plate out loud several times to remember the number.
*You never know if a driver will panic and drive off!
3. Turn on your Hazard lights,
(*There are emergency car accident kits that have a host of supplies...good to keep in your trunk)
4. Call the Police and report the Accident...it may look minor, but you never know. Your Insurance Co. will want to know if a report was made.
If SAFE, move your car out of harms way. This is only determined according to each individual situation.
5. Determine if it is safe to stay or leave the car. The weather, safety, injuries, night time, etc. will ALL be a factor in this case.
6. Look for Witnesses to the accident. Ask them to stay on the scene and get their contact information.
They could provide valuable statements.
7. Exchange information with the other Driver/s, but ONLY after you size up the situation and everything is "Kosher & Safe".
*A teen by themselves, should always call their Parent/s as soon as possible. Another Adult on YOUR side will always be helpful!
Exchange:
Names, phone numbers, addresses, Driver's License (cell phone photos help), Auto Insurance companies, their phone numbers and policy numbers.
Record the make, model and color of the other vehicle.
Take a photo of their vehicle.
Write down the LOCATION of the accident. Street name or names if in an intersection, the Town, Landmarks if necessary.
 Take Photos.
Take Lots of Photos!
8. Tell the Police officers, Insurance people, Medical workers....etc., exactly what happened.
 Be specific, clear & concise.
9. Inform your Insurance Company as soon as possible, whether it's that day or the next business day.
Let your Insurance adjuster handle everything....
Refer phone calls, letters, etc. to him/her.
Do not talk to the other drivers Insurance agent.
That's why you have Insurance.
10. YOUR glove compartment in YOUR car should have the following items with your car registration:
A pen, note paper, medical info, medications list, allergies, flash light, disposable camera (or your cell phone/camera), maybe even a fill-in accident form (They can be found online or some Insurance Agencies have them. It's HANDY...you don't want to forget any important info).
AND...always have you Vehicle Insurance info, phone number & policy number.
* In California, your registration and insurance info is required to be in your vehicle.
11. In your Trunk: a small first aide kit, auto emergency kit, and a blanket. Maybe another Flashlight too.
12. Try to stay calm & polite...LESS conversation is MORE in this case...wait for the police officer, then explain things to him/her!
It is more important to get help & stay safe!
A car can and will be replaceable...You are NOT!
If your Car is Towed...
Make sure all of you valuables are removed from the car.
Know what your insurance will cover before an accident occurs. Follow through with talking to the Insurance, Towing co. & Auto Body Shop. Also be aware if a rental car is covered. Make sure if you are a Teen, what if any coverage for a rental car applies. States vary on this.
*In our case if you are 18, in College and/or work the Rental Agency should able to rent you a car.
In California in most cases, if you are UNDER 25 years old, you CAN'T rent a car.)
Know Your Own Information...
Photo of the Intersection...
We are SO happy K-8 is OK! Very sore and achy, BUT OKAY!
AND...PROUD!
PROUD of HER for handling everything correctly!
She did awesome in an EMERGENCY situation!
K-8 is GREAT...

Road Trip to Cal Poly...

We had a road trip to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo this weekend.  We combined a "Cal Poly Business Trip" and "Check-Out Cal Poly Trip" for our oldest granddaughter!
K-8 had a major final at school on Thursday....
(YES!!!...I am old and have a granddaughter in COLLEGE!)
So since Papa had to be at Cal Poly on Thursday afternoon...he caught a ride with a friend and headed to SLO on Wednesday night!
That gave K-8 & I an opportunity for a ROAD TRIP to SLO !
YEAH!!!
We hadn't had a "Nana & K-8 Road Trip" in quite a while!
(Mmmm...Crab legs at Olde Port Inn in Avila Beach with Butterfinger Pie for Dessert!)
We stayed with Friends (also former Cal Poly Alumni's) in Santa Margarita...
Awesome Friends, Awesome Time!

The mission at San Luis Obispo
BUBBLE GUM ALLEY in San Luis Obispo
We did some touring, shopping and fine dining!
We had a great time!
If you travel to the central coast...Olde Port Inn in Avila Beach is a must for Seafood! My lobster tail was AMAZING!
The tables have glass tops so you can view the fish swimming below the pier! The sunsets or the fog rolling in makes for wonderful seascapes.  It makes a wonderful dining experience even better!
We had a wonderful evening with our friends, K-8 and our new "Summer Cal Poly  Intern" for PINE CREEK. She is quite lovely and we are looking forward to her joining us soon! Welcome aboard Katie! :)
 YUMMO, the food was heavenly!
Avila Beach
We had a Whale visiting in the Port while we were there...
JUST swimming around the fishing boats!!!
Such a nice visit!
We took K-8 to Morro Bay to see Morro Rock...
You can tell the wind was really whipping around the beach. It had been unusually hot; 95! The next day was high winds and cool; 57!
Morro Rock, Morro Bay, Ca
We also stopped in at one of our favorite Antique stores while in Morro Bay; 'ANTIQUES ET CETERA' !
Oh My... they have BEAUTIFUL OLD WORLD antiques!
 Bronzes & Statuary.....
*Photos taken from Antiques Et Certera's website
Check out their website at:
antiquesetceteramorrobay.com
You won't be disappointed...YOU will be amazed!
Jim & Nancy are very nice and extremely knowledgeable in antiques.
Pine Creek Cattle Co.'s Cattle on the moo-ve...
So much to see and do on the Central Coast...We had fun showing K-8 the sights and our old haunts...
She LOVED touring the BEEF & Equine Units at Cal Poly, SLO.
"GO BEEF... Cowgirl K-8!"
BEEF just plain good Eat'n for any meal!
(Had to plug it!...heehee)
"EAT BEEF"
We stopped at Casa de Fruita on our way home for gas, a stretch and a quick bite to eat...and of course some fruit!
Another fun place to stop when on a central California jaunt!
*Google CASA de Fruita for more info....
One of our many good fortunes from our trip!
Kinda of a nice reminder for a young college girl & her goals!
WE LOVED OUR TRIP, it was FULL of STYLE...
