A Very Special Birthday....It's Leap Year!

A leap year consists of 366 days, as opposed to a common year, which has 365 days.

Who invented Leap Year?
Julius Caesar introduced Leap Years in the Roman Empire over 2000 years ago. But the Julian calendar had only one rule; any year evenly divisible by 4 would be a leap year. This lead to too many Leap Years, but did not get corrected until the introduction of the Gregorian calendar more than 1500 years later.
In the Gregorian calendar has 3 criteria that must be met to be a leap year:
~The year is easily divided by 4;
~If the year can be divided by 100, it is not a Leap Year, unless;
 ~The year is also evenly divisible by 400. Then it is a Leap Year.
That means that 2000 and 2400 are leap years, while 1800, 1900, 2100, 2300 and 2500 are NOT Leap years.
~In Ireland on February 29th there is a tradition that the Ladies may Propose Marriage to their Man.
~People born on February 29th are all invited to join the Honor Society of Leap Year Day Babies.
~In the Guinness Book of Records there are world record holders both of a family producing three consecutive generations born on February 29 and of the number of children born on February 29 in the same family.
