Country Life & a Photo Op...

While cruising through Facebook this morning, I came across a photo that caught my eye! A friend  had captured some adorable photos on her country property. When I complimented her on the first photo, she promptly posted two more for me to view. I loved the titles she placed on the photos. They totally captured the photos and my heart! I quickly asked if I could share on PineCreekStyle..... And, she quickly replied, "Of Course!"
I absolutely love these photo's...Enjoy....

A Vintage Kitchen Chandelier...

 Okay....Enough about that ! "On with the Show!" Take a look at this project!!! 

"My Vintage Chrystal Chandelier"

 I bought two of these baskets 2-3 years ago on clearance at a gift shop! They are quite large! I hadn't decided what to do with them yet...and had even loaned them out for a few weddings! Mostly they were sitting & waiting.  Then it hit me...

We are building a Kitchen Garden/Greenhouse....Duh! What was I thinking??? I needed an outdoor Kitchen Chandelier! I had been collecting old silverware pieces...and I had some small Christmas Ornaments that were Crystal tear drops, also found on clearance! Project born!

 With my foot in a brace/boot and not able to get around with ease... I set out to design My Chandelier! (I had to stay off my foot as much as possible.) And ...the results were Heavenly......How fun to put together this Beauty while I was (kinda) laid up!... (I'm not a very good Couch Potato! I get bored easily I guess....) The results were Amazing...Can you tell I LOVE it???

 I can't wait to BUILD my outdoor Kitchen garden/Greenhouse....

Here is what I used:

• A heavy garden basket, 
• Bailing Wire (electric fence wire, not oiled...:) Can you tell we live on a ranch?) 
• Old silverware from thrift stores, layout the order you like before you start the project. **I placed my silverware in order, by place settings; fork, knife, spoon, repeat...then I used a serving piece...repeat around the chandelier.
• Plastic Crystal Christmas Ornaments
• Needle Nose Pliers with a cutter

Instructions:
Cut wire at arms length.  Weave and twist the items on the basket. I did a little "rosette" twist on each end of the wire...see the photo for examples.

 With the ornaments, I removed the hanging strings and cut a wire  about 8 inches long and attached to the basket. *Attach in the same fashion as mentioned above.

Each piece of silverware was wired on at the top of the utensil, on the eating end and then again on the handle. The handles were wired-on near the mid range of the basket for security (and to hold them in place, so they won't stick out). I did a free form messy-look style...for looks and character! If done in this fashion you won't need to drill press holes into the silverware...Besides I love the Shabby Chic Vintage Look it creates!

I may have to hang it elsewhere first! It's too pretty not to display! Although....I do have another basket waiting in the wings...Better start hunting for more silverware...

Hard-Scape & Courtyard Fence...

Our new hard scape & courtyard fence is coming together! I have been moving rock for a couple of weeks...I am far from done...but I'm getting there!

Slow & Steady...

The Cross was a birthday present from my Son's family a few years ago.

Unique Garden Planters...

I was browsing through my face book page

WHEN....a friend of mine's post caught my eye!

 "WOW, That is SO cute! Gotta Blog that!", I thought. 

So... I shot off a comment and a question to Tammy R. a.s.a.p!

Tammy had bought these desks a while back from Our Lady of Miracles School. They were disposing of old supplies in order to buy new ones. They were bought for the price of a donation! Her painting supplies ran around $20.00. She used some painter's tape, Rust Oleum's Painters Touch Ultra Cover x2 in a primer and Fire Engine Red paint.

Jelly's Ferry Bridge...

We have a one lane bridge near our home on the Sacramento River.

Jelly's Ferry Bridge

Jelly's Ferry Bridge was built in 1949.
Just a few facts:
 ~Bridge Details: Largest span, 149.9 feet, Length 940.0 feet, Deck width 17.7 feet, Clearance above deck 15.1 feet.
~ It had been a toll ferry, originally established in 1857, owned & operated by Andrew Jelly. It was serviced by Mr. Jelly until 1890. 
~Tehama County operated the Ferry Service until 1950. 
~The California Stage Co (est. @1854), established this as one of their regular routes. They were based out of Sacramento, Ca.
~ This bridge, is only 1 of 33 bridges that crosses the Sacramento River.

We love our one-lane bridge. Not many of these type of bridges are left around the country.

That is an Osprey Nest! 
At this time, the (California) Osprey birds no longer remain on the "Bird Species of Special Concern"; compiled by the California Dept. of Fish & Game, 
(The current reference is dated, 2008).
 The Osprey's numbers have multiplied in recent years.
 Some states may still list them as endangered.

 The Osprey catch fish in flight and can reach as deep as 3 feet into the water.  But they prefer shallower water where fish school are near the surface. 
They eat mainly fish; fresh and saltwater fish. 

This amazing photo is of a "fish dance" resulting in a catch!

Osprey's lifespan is about 15-20 years. The oldest recorded age is 25 years and 2 months. The name "Osprey" made is first recorded around 1460. 

The name, a Medieval Latin phrase, means "bird of prey".

A good friend of ours caught a beauty of his own...she was a whopping 40 pounds! She was recently caught at the river, near the bridge. 

We were lucky enough to receive some of the BEST smoked salmon we've EVER eaten! YUMMY!
